Women's Bank supports women entrepreneurs in developing countries

CEO of KB-Order Ltd. Kirsti Toikka is actively involved with the operations of Women's Bank. She founded the Tampere regional chamber in 2008, together with the Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Tampere.

Women's Bank was founded in May 2007 by Finn Church Aid and a group of influential women who had visited Liberia and were moved by the living conditions of women there. Women's Bank is a community and a fund for supporting women's sustainable entrepreneurship and livelihood in developing countries, particularly in Africa.

Donations fund:

  • Projects that promote women's economic livelihood, skills and rights
  • Small loans, vocational training and other activities to encourage entrepreneurship
  • Other new, innovative pilot projects aimed at promoting women's entrepreneurship

 

Women's Bank currently has 767 shareholders. Funds collected by the end of 2009 totaled 1, 650, 000 EUR, from which 177 village banks have been granted small loans.
